GGM Congratulates NDDC Boss, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, on International Award as Development Champion


Yenagoa — The Director-General of the Grassroots Galvanization Movement (GGM), Hon. Ebisele Azibalua Oyabara, has congratulated the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, on his recent recognition as the Nigeria Regional Government Development Champion of the Year 2025 at the prestigious London Political Summit and Awards (LPSA) held at the UK House of Commons in London.


Hon. Oyabara, in a statement released to journalists in Yenagoa, described the award as a well-deserved international honour that attests to Dr. Ogbuku’s visionary leadership, innovation, and dedication to sustainable development across the Niger Delta.


“This recognition is not just an award to Dr. Samuel Ogbuku but a loud proof to the new era of impactful governance and people-centered development he has championed at the NDDC,” Oyabara said.


“He has redefined leadership in the Niger Delta through transparency, inclusiveness, and strategic initiatives that have rekindled public confidence in the Commission.”


The GGM Director-General noted that under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership, the NDDC has implemented transformative programmes such as the Light Up the Niger Delta initiative, empowerment projects, and rural infrastructure interventions that have greatly improved security, economic activity, and living standards in the region.


“Dr. Ogbuku has proven beyond doubt that leadership anchored on vision, empathy, and accountability can bring real change. This international recognition is a proud moment for all Niger Deltans and indeed for Bayelsa State,” Oyabara added.


He further reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Grassroots Galvanization Movement for Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership and developmental vision, stating that the Movement remains committed to mobilizing grassroots support to sustain the positive transformation currently being witnessed across the region.


“As a Movement, we see this award as a call to deepen our resolve in supporting visionary leaders like Dr. Ogbuku, whose track record continues to inspire hope and unity among our people,” he said.


Hon. Oyabara concluded by urging Bayelsans and all Niger Deltans to celebrate the achievement, describing it as “a victory for purposeful leadership and a reaffirmation that the world is watching the new story of progress unfolding in the Niger Delta.”
