BAYELSA POLITICS: Gov. Diri, APC Stakeholders Declare 100% Support for Tinubu’s Re-election in 2027

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State - The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general election, declaring total and unwavering support for his second-term bid.

The endorsement was made at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting of the APC held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, with Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, leading party leaders and stakeholders in attendance.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Diri called on politicians across the state to shun politics of intimidation, bitterness and division, and instead embrace governance anchored on development, unity and people-oriented leadership. He emphasized that sustainable progress could only be achieved through inclusive politics that prioritizes the welfare of the people.

The meeting marked Governor Diri’s first official engagement with APC stakeholders in Bayelsa State since his defection to the party on November 3, 2025. The event was characterised by an atmosphere of renewed political alignment, as party leaders and members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC in the state.

Governor Diri assured President Tinubu of overwhelming support from Bayelsa State ahead of the 2027 polls, pledging what he described as “one hundred per cent commitment” to the success of the party at all levels. According to him, the APC in Bayelsa is poised to work collectively to ensure victory for the President and the party in the forthcoming general election.

Discussions at the meeting also focused on strategies to deepen party unity and the planned launch of the APC electronic registration exercise aimed at enrolling eligible members across the state.

A motion endorsing President Tinubu’s re-election was formally moved by Governor Diri and seconded by Senator Konbowei Benson and former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Peremobowei Ebebi. The motion was unanimously adopted through a voice vote by party stakeholders, sealing the party’s collective resolve.

The development underscores the APC’s growing political consolidation in Bayelsa State and signals a strategic mobilization ahead of the 2027 general election.
