Elebele, Bayelsa State – The Director-General of the Grassroots Galvanization Movement (GGM), Hon. Ebisele Azibalua Oyabara, has called on political leaders across the Niger Delta region to emulate the people-oriented leadership style and developmental strides of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), High Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
Speaking with journalists at his office in Elebele during the weekend, Hon. Oyabara described Ogbuku as “a shining example of transformational leadership” whose tenure has redefined the purpose and essence of governance in the region.
According to him, the Niger Delta has suffered decades of underdevelopment due to leadership failure, mismanagement, and lack of vision. However, he noted that Ogbuku’s administration at the NDDC has charted “a new pathway for growth, infrastructural advancement, and community-driven empowerment.”
“If our politicians had towed the same path of people-focused development over the years, the Niger Delta would have been far ahead of where it is today. High Chief Samuel Ogbuku has demonstrated that leadership is about service, impact, and legacy, not self-interest. He has shown that when leaders put the people first, the results speak volumes,” Oyabara said.
The GGM Director-General highlighted key initiatives under Ogbuku’s leadership, including infrastructural projects, youth and women empowerment schemes, capacity-building programs, and innovative partnerships aimed at repositioning the NDDC as an engine of growth for the Niger Delta.
He stressed that such visionary interventions are crucial in tackling the developmental gaps that have plagued the region, urging other politicians to adopt Ogbuku’s style of leadership that prioritizes people over politics.
Hon. Oyabara further commended the NDDC boss for promoting inclusivity and transparency in governance, noting that his administration has rekindled public confidence in the Commission’s mandate.
“Chief Ogbuku’s leadership is a breath of fresh air for our people. He has shown us that politics is not only about power, but about impact. This is the kind of leadership the Niger Delta needs to unlock its full potential. I call on every political leader in the region to draw a leaf from his style and commit to people-oriented service,” he added.
The Grassroots Galvanization Movement (GGM), established as a platform to mobilize support for good governance and accountability, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting leaders whose actions align with the yearnings of the people.
Oyabara concluded by urging the people of the Niger Delta, particularly Bayelsans to support leaders like Ogbuku, who are genuinely working to transform the region, and cautioned against the politics of self-interest that has kept the region behind in terms of development.
