TURNAH GRACES CATHEDRAL CHURCH HARVEST THANKSGIVING SERVICE, SAYS TRUE SERVICE TO GOD IS THE ULTIMATE DUTY OF MAN

Ogbia, Bayelsa State - The Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, on Sunday joined the congregation of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Anglican Communion, Ogbia Town, for its annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service, where he served as the Chief Harvester.

A statement signed by Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, his Media Assistant, noted that Hon. Turnah, who was represented at the event by the Acting Financial Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Erepagamo Eke-Spiff, expressed gratitude to the Church for its unwavering spiritual and moral influence across the Ogbia Kingdom and beyond.

He commended the clergy and congregation for their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and spiritual renewal within the community.

Delivering his goodwill message, the PDP Acting Chairman reminded worshippers that “true service to God remains the ultimate duty of man,” adding that human achievements only find meaning when anchored on faith, gratitude, and genuine service to humanity. He urged Christians to continually express their thanksgiving to God not only through words but also through actions that demonstrate love, kindness, and selfless service to others.

According to him, “Our faith is not measured by how much we acquire, but by how faithfully we serve. Every blessing we receive from God must translate into blessings for others. That is the essence of true thanksgiving.”

The colourful Harvest Thanksgiving Service attracted dignitaries from different walks of life, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the clergy, who joined the Church in offering songs of praise, testimonies, and gifts of thanksgiving. The ceremony also featured symbolic presentations representing harvest, abundance, and gratitude to God for His faithfulness.

Hon. Turnah, who is also the Zonal Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), South South Zone while expressing appreciation to the Church leadership for the honour of being chosen as Chief Harvester, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote spiritual growth and community development in Bayelsa State. He noted that such gatherings foster unity and moral reawakening, which are essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.

He concluded by assuring the Anglican Church and the people of Ogbia Kingdom of his continued partnership in efforts aimed at advancing the spiritual and socio-economic well-being of the people.
