AFAN Signs MoU with Brazilian Manufacturers to Lease Agricultural Equipment
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with agricultural equipment manufacturing companies in Brazil for the lease and supply of modern mechanization equipment to support Nigerian farmers.
The agreement, signed during AFAN’s engagement with key stakeholders in Brazil, is expected to facilitate the release of a wide range of agricultural machines to the association. The equipment package includes tractors, various farm implements used from planting to harvesting stages, as well as dairy equipment designed to support livestock production.
According to AFAN officials, pre-shipment arrangements for the equipment commenced immediately after the signing of the MoU, paving the way for their eventual arrival in Nigeria.
The MoU was signed on behalf of AFAN by its National President, Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi, who is currently leading the Nigerian delegation on an agricultural engagement tour in Brazil.
The visit forms part of AFAN’s broader initiative to interface with manufacturing companies, farmers, and agricultural cooperatives in Brazil in order to learn from their development models and private sector–derived agricultural growth.
One of the key institutions visited during the engagement is COTRIJAL, a leading agricultural cooperative known for its strong contribution to Brazil’s agricultural sector and export of beef and other farm produce.
AFAN officials noted that the partnership is aimed at improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the mechanization capacity of farmers across Nigeria.
Further details of the agreement, including operational modalities and distribution plans for the equipment, are expected to be unveiled when the delegation returns to Nigeria.
The initiative also reflects the support pledged by the executive council led by Evaldo Silva Junior, whose leadership has been instrumental in fostering cooperation with AFAN in the drive to enhance agricultural production and improve the welfare of farmers.
Stakeholders within the association have described the development as a significant milestone under the leadership of Dr. Mudi, whose vision continues to focus on empowering Nigerian farmers through access to modern technology and strategic international partnerships.
