ELEBELE YOUTH MOVEMENT TO HOLD SENSITIZATION PROGRAM ON DRUG ABUSE, CULTISM
Elebele, Bayelsa - The Elebele Youth Movement (EYM), in collaboration with the Security and Rights Opportunities (SRO) Project, has announced plans to organize a youth sensitization program aimed at addressing the growing concerns of drug abuse, cultism, and other related social vices among young people in Elebele community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to a statement issued by the Youth President of the Elebele Youth Movement, Thankgod Arimor Ata, the program is designed to create awareness and educate young people on the dangers associated with drug abuse, cult-related activities, and other negative behaviors that threaten the peace, development, and future of the community.
The sensitization program, which is expected to bring together youths, community leaders, stakeholders, and security personnel, will focus on promoting responsible living, positive values, and constructive engagement among young people.
Thankgod noted that the initiative forms part of the efforts of the Elebele Youth Movement, in partnership with the SRO Project, to tackle social challenges affecting youths while encouraging them to channel their energies into productive ventures that will contribute to the progress of the community and society at large.
He emphasized that addressing the menace of drug abuse and cultism requires collective responsibility, stressing that continuous enlightenment and community engagement remain vital tools in guiding young people towards making better life choices.
The event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Elebele Community Town Hall, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The organizers have called on youths and other stakeholders in the community to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the program, noting that such engagements are essential in building a safer, healthier, and more progressive society.
The Elebele Community Youth President further expressed optimism that the sensitization program will inspire youths to shun social vices and embrace values that will enable them to become responsible leaders and contributors to the development of Elebele community and beyond.
