Yenagoa, Bayelsa - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has reaffirmed its readiness for the party’s forthcoming National Convention scheduled to hold in Abuja from March 29 to March 30, 2026, expressing confidence in a successful and impactful participation.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. The State Chairman, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, was quoted as saying that the ongoing reorganisation of the party; from the ward and local government levels to the state and national structures reflects a deliberate strategy to rebuild and reposition the PDP for greater national relevance.
He expressed optimism that the party is steadily regaining its strength and is on course to reclaim its pride of place in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The Bayelsa PDP also noted that the convention would formally ratify the honorary title and position of “National Leader of the PDP” conferred on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON. The party highlighted that the recognition was first initiated and proclaimed by the Bayelsa State chapter under the leadership of Turnah.
While urging delegates to actively participate in the convention, the party emphasized the need for strict adherence to accreditation guidelines and called for unity, discipline and democratic conduct throughout the exercise.
Observers believe the stance of the Bayelsa chapter underscores growing momentum within the PDP as it prepares for a convention widely seen as pivotal to consolidating the party’s structure and positioning ahead of future political engagements.
