PDP NEC RATIFIES ELECTION OF GEORGE TURNAH AS BAYELSA STATE CHAIRMAN

Abuja - The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally ratified the election of Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, as the Chairman of the party in Bayelsa State.

A statement signed by Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, Media Assistant to the Chairman, People's Democratic Party, Bayelsa State noted that the ratification took place during the party’s 107th NEC meeting, where members of the committee unanimously endorsed Turnah’s emergence as the state chairman.

A motion for the ratification of Turnah’s election was moved by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, and seconded by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu.

With the approval of the NEC, Turnah’s leadership of the party in Bayelsa State has now received the formal backing of the party’s highest decision-making organ between national conventions.

Party stakeholders at the meeting expressed confidence in Turnah’s capacity to strengthen the party’s structure, deepen internal cohesion and sustain the PDP’s dominance in Bayelsa State.

Turnah, a legal practitioner and long-time member of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been widely acknowledged for his role in mobilizing grassroots support and advancing the interests of the party in Bayelsa State and beyond, even in the face of stiff opposition.

The NEC’s endorsement is expected to further consolidate the party’s leadership structure in Bayelsa and reinforce ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future political engagements.

The meeting, which brought together top leaders and stakeholders of the PDP from across the country, deliberated on key issues affecting the party and reaffirmed its commitment to internal unity and democratic processes.
