99TH BAYELSA PDP SEC PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON TURNAH’S LEADERSHIP, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PARTY REPOSITIONING

Yenagoa - The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has passed a unanimous vote of confidence on its State Chairman, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, in recognition of his inclusive and people-oriented leadership style which party stakeholders say has revitalized the PDP across the state.

The resolution was reached at the 99th State Executive Committee (SEC) Meeting held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the party’s State Secretariat, where members of the highest decision-making body of the party in Bayelsa State commended Turnah for what they described as “exceptional, all-inclusive, and grassroots-driven leadership.”

Rising from the meeting, SEC members noted that Turnah has demonstrated a rare example of purposeful leadership, uniting diverse interests within the party and restoring confidence among members. They emphasized that under his stewardship, the PDP in Bayelsa is truly living out its core philosophy of “people’s democracy,” marked by openness, participation, and collective decision-making.

The committee further acknowledged that the party has witnessed renewed strength, cohesion, and growing acceptance among the grassroots, attributing this progress to Turnah’s deliberate efforts at reconciliation, mobilization, and structural strengthening.

In his remarks, former Deputy Governorship candidate, Joshua MacIver, poured encomiums on the State Chairman, describing him as “a leader of uncommon courage, vision, and sincerity of purpose.” He noted that Turnah’s leadership style has restored hope and confidence among party faithful.

MacIver added that Turnah’s openness to all shades of opinion and his commitment to fairness have created a new PDP in Bayelsa; one that is united, focused, and poised for victory. He commended the chairman’s sacrifices in keeping the party together during difficult times and expressed optimism that under his leadership, the PDP would reclaim its rightful place in the state.

Responding, Turnah expressed gratitude to members of the SEC for their confidence and support, assuring them of his continued commitment to building a strong, united, and victorious party.

He reiterated his belief that Bayelsa State would soon return to the PDP, declaring that the party is fully prepared to reclaim its mandate. According to him, a PDP governor will be sworn in on February 14, 2028, at Creek Haven, ushering in a new era of purposeful governance.

Turnah stated that the incoming PDP administration would transform Yenagoa into a modern city that reflects the pride and aspirations of the Bayelsa people, stressing that the state capital would shed any negative perceptions and assume its rightful status as a thriving urban center.

He also assured that critical infrastructure would receive priority attention, including the long-abandoned Tower Hotel project in Yenagoa, which he said would be transformed “from a tower of shame to a symbol of glory and economic revitalization.”

The PDP chairman called on Bayelsans to remain steadfast in their support for the party, noting that the PDP has always represented the true interests of the people and remains the most credible platform for sustainable development in the state.

The 99th SEC meeting's endorsement of Turnah’s leadership is a clear signal of the party’s renewed determination to reposition itself for future electoral success.
