BAYELSA PDP DISSOLVES ALL CAMPAIGN STRUCTURES OF PARTY CANDIDATES, WARNS AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED ACTIVITIES

Yenagoa - The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved all campaign organizations and political structures earlier established by aspirants who have now emerged as candidates of the party for the 2027 general elections.

The party, in a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ikaebimo Mark, said all campaign activities concerning its candidates would henceforth be centrally managed and supervised by the leadership of the party in the state pending the formal inauguration of approved campaign structures.

According to the statement, aspirants had legitimately enjoyed the liberty to organize and manage their individual campaigns prior to the conduct of the party primaries, but such privileges automatically ceased upon their emergence as candidates of the PDP.

“The Party notes that while aspirants were legitimately permitted to organize and manage their individual campaigns before the primaries, such liberty automatically ceases upon emergence as candidates of the Party,” the statement read.

The PDP further directed all candidates to immediately desist from issuing political statements, campaign publications, media engagements, or any form of public communication with campaign undertones without obtaining prior clearance and approval from the leadership of the party in the state.

The party also barred candidates from operating any campaign-related groups, organizations, platforms, or structures outside the authority and approval of the PDP.

“The Party further bars all candidates from establishing or operating any campaign-related organizations, platforms, groups or structures by whatever name or designation outside the authority and approval of the Party,” the statement added.

The Bayelsa PDP explained that the directive became necessary to ensure strict compliance with electoral laws, regulations, and internal party guidelines ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party warned that it would not tolerate actions capable of exposing it to legal, political, or administrative complications arising from unauthorized political activities by any of its candidates.

“The Party therefore warns that it will not hesitate to deal decisively with any candidate found acting in contravention of this directive or engaging in unauthorized political activities outside the approved framework of the Party,” Hon. Mark stated.

For the avoidance of doubt, the party clarified that only the State Publicity Secretary is authorized to issue official statements on behalf of the PDP and its candidates pending the formal unveiling of campaign structures and the party’s electoral roadmap.

The PDP, however, urged all candidates, stakeholders, supporters, and members to remain disciplined, loyal, and committed to the unity, collective interest, and eventual victory of the party in Bayelsa State.
