TURNAH BRIEFS PDP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, VOWS TO RETURN PARTY TO CREEK HAVEN


ABUJA, June 11, 2026 – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has reaffirmed the commitment of the party's leadership and members in the state to reclaim power and return the PDP to Creek Haven, the seat of government in Bayelsa State.


Turnah made the declaration on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the PDP, His Excellency, Hon. Amb. Abdulrahman Mohammed, at the party's National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.


During the meeting, the Bayelsa PDP Chairman briefed the National Chairman on the state of the party in the state, outlining ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening party structures, promoting unity among stakeholders, deepening grassroots mobilization, and repositioning the party ahead of future electoral contests.


He assured the national leadership that the Bayelsa chapter of the PDP remains focused on rebuilding public confidence and consolidating support across the state, with a clear determination to return the party to power.


Turnah emphasized that the state leadership was working assiduously to unite members and expand the party's reach at the grassroots, expressing confidence that the PDP would emerge stronger and more competitive in forthcoming elections.


Responding, the National Chairman, Amb. Abdulrahman Mohammed, commended the progress recorded by the party in Bayelsa State under Turnah's leadership. He expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the State Working Committee and party faithful, while assuring the Bayelsa PDP leadership of the continued support and cooperation of the national leadership.


The meeting, according to Mr. Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, Media Assistant to the Chairman, PDP Bayelsa State, has further strengthened the relationship between the national and state leadership of the PDP and restated their shared commitment to building a stronger and more formidable opposition platform capable of securing electoral victories in future elections.


The visit forms part of ongoing consultations between the national leadership of the party and state chapters aimed at consolidating internal cohesion and strengthening the PDP across the country.
