BAYELSA PDP STATE SECRETARY ATO ALFREDER CALLS ON EKEREMOR, ALABINI SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO RETURN TO THE PARTY
The State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Princess Ato Alfreder, has called on all sons and daughters of Ekeremor Local Government Area, particularly members of the Alabini House and the people of Constituency 3, to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, describing the PDP as the enduring political home of the Ijaw people and the platform best positioned to protect and advance the collective interests of Bayelsans.
Hon. Alfreder made the call while appealing to party members, supporters and well-meaning sons and daughters of Ekeremor to close ranks and reconnect with the PDP, assuring them that the party remains open to all, and committed to building a stronger, more united and inclusive political family.
She said the PDP occupies a special place in the political history of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation, stressing that the party's commitment to the people goes beyond electoral politics.
According to her, the PDP remains a platform where the interests, aspirations and welfare of the people are given priority, noting that the party's strength has always been rooted in its people and its capacity to provide opportunities for citizens to participate meaningfully in governance and political leadership.
Hon. Alfreder particularly reassured returning members and prospective members that the Hon. Alabh George Turnah-led leadership of the PDP in Bayelsa State is committed to providing a level playing field for all members, irrespective of social status, economic standing, political background or previous affiliations.
She emphasized that under the present leadership, the PDP is determined to foster an environment where every member has a voice and where no individual is regarded as too small to contribute or too insignificant to be heard.
“The PDP is the political home of our people. It is a party where the voice of the young and the old can be heard; where the grassroots member can sit at the same table with the leader; and where opportunities are not reserved for a privileged few,” she said.
The State Secretary further urged the youths of Ekeremor and Constituency 3 not to distance themselves from the political process, stressing that the future of the state belongs to a new generation that must be actively involved in shaping its direction.
She noted that the PDP's commitment to inclusiveness means that young people, women, traditional stakeholders, professionals, community leaders and grassroots politicians all have a place in the party.
Hon. Alfreder also appealed to those who may have left the party for one reason or another to reconsider their position and return to the fold, assuring them that the PDP remains a family capable of accommodating differences, resolving grievances and working together for the greater good.
She said the call for reconciliation and return should not be viewed merely through the lens of political calculations, but as an invitation to collectively rebuild a stronger political institution capable of defending the interests of the people and advancing the development of Bayelsa State.
She therefore called on all sons and daughters of Ekeremor, all sons and daughters of Alabini House, and particularly the people of Constituency 3, to embrace unity and return to the PDP, assuring them that the party's doors remain open.
Hon. Alfreder expressed confidence that with renewed unity, commitment and collective participation, the PDP would continue to consolidate its position as the leading political platform in Bayelsa State and a dependable vehicle for the aspirations of the Ijaw people.
She urged party faithful across Ekeremor to remain steadfast, peaceful and committed to the ideals of the PDP, while assuring them that the present leadership would continue to promote fairness, inclusion, internal democracy and equal opportunities for all.
“Come home. The PDP is your home. Your voice matters, your contribution matters, and your future matters. Together, we can build a stronger PDP and a better Bayelsa,” she added.
