TURNAH LEADS BAYELSA PDP TO CONDOLE ODEDE FAMILY, PLEDGES SUSTAINED MONTHLY SUPPORT

Yenagoa, Bayelsa  - Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, Hon. Chief Alabh George Turnah, MON, Esq., has led members of the State Working Committee, Party leaders and other stakeholders on a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Executive Officer of TVAfrica24, Barakumor Odede, in Yenagoa.

The delegation braved the heavy downpour and deplorable condition of the road leading to the family’s residence to identify with the bereaved family and honour the memory of the late media practitioner, whom the Party described as a committed friend and supporter.

Speaking on behalf of the Party, the State Secretary, Hon. Alfreder Ato, urged the family to remain strong and take solace in the legacy of the deceased. She described Barakumor as a good friend of the PDP, stressing that the Party’s decision to visit despite the difficult weather and road conditions was a demonstration of genuine love and solidarity.

She encouraged the widow to uphold the values and legacy her husband left behind, assuring her that “you are not alone in this.”

The Bayelsa PDP Chairman, George Turnah, who expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the media practitioner, described Barakumor as a friend who embodied the true meaning of friendship, loyalty and selfless commitment.

According to him, the deceased consistently supported the activities and struggles of the PDP and promoted the Party’s programmes and leadership without demanding payment or personal benefit.

“Barakumor was one friend who represented everything that the true meaning of friendship stands for. On this PDP struggle, he always promoted what we do in the Party, even without any payment. He believed in what the leadership of today’s PDP stands for, and that is why his passing is particularly painful to us,” Turnah said.

The PDP Chairman acknowledged the family’s new responsibility following the death of the breadwinner, particularly the burden of raising and educating the children, and assured the widow of the Party’s continued support.

Turnah announced that the Bayelsa PDP will provide the family with N200,000 monthly as a token of support towards sustaining the family and assisting with the education and welfare of the children.

He urged the widow to remain strong and maintain regular communication with the Party, assuring her that the PDP would stand by the family and support efforts to preserve the good works and legacy of her late husband.

“As believers, we cannot question God. The best thing we can do for him now is to stand by his family. As long as God gives us life and keeps us, the Party will continue to do its part to support you. Please take heart and always stay in touch,” he added.

Responding, Mrs. Odede, widow of the deceased, expressed profound appreciation to Turnah and the entire PDP family for the visit, particularly for braving the heavy rainfall and difficult road conditions to reach the family.

Prayers were said for the family’s sustenance, protection, preservation, provision and strength to overcome the painful loss, with prayers also offered that such an unfortunate experience would never occur again in the family.
